2013 Scholarships

The ACFA Helen Brothers/Beth Harris Memorial Scholarship is in honor of two wonderful ladies; Mrs. Helen Brothers and Mrs. Beth Harris. Helen is the deceased wife of ACFA’s first President, Glenn Brothers. Helen was a very outgoing lady. She delighted in young people and was always a mentor for those trying to achieve their very best. Beth is the deceased wife of Richard Harris, our ACFA Vice President and a member of our Board of Directors. Both of them personified the type of folks who make up our Association.

Tanner Goff

Tanner Goff, son of Billy and Janet Goff of Greenwood, S.C. has been awarded The ACFA Helen Brothers/Beth Harris Memorial Scholarship from the Alabama Consumer Finance Association. Tanner is the grandson of Richard and the late Beth Harris. His grandmother would be so proud to present the scholarship in her honor to Tanner. Richard Harris resides in Waterloo, S.C. and is with Southern Management Corporation. Tanner graduated from Laurens Academy. Tanner plans to attend the College of Charleston studying Premed/Chemistry. He has already earned 37 college credits. Tanner received glowing recommendations from his Math teacher and his English teacher who both identified him as a leader, very responsible, and having an outgoing personality.

Jerome P. (Jay) Compton III

Jerome P. (Jay) Compton III son of Mr. & Mrs. J. Paul Compton II of Birmingham, Al. Jay graduated from Mountain Brook High School. He has been accepted to the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. His intended major is in Business Administration. He has earned 3 college credits so far and has a 3.0 GPA. Jay has made several Mission trips during his High School days with on scheduled to South Africa this summer.

Evan Patrick Sanders

Evan Patrick Sanders is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Darryl Sanders of Enterprise, Alabama. . Evan graduated from Enterprise High School in 2011 with a 3.0 GPA and will be attending Troy University in Troy, Alabama in the Fall of 2013 with Physical Education as his major. He has earned 64 college credits so far.
